Don Wood grew up on a farm in California. By the time he was in sixth grade, Don was working up to 16 hour days on the farm. He soon was responsible for buying his own clothes, entertainment, and his way through college. During this time he discovered that art was his true passion. Because summer was so busy on the farm, winter time was his time to create his art, especially on laundry day. Laundry day meant that he would have paper big enough to create anything he wanted on it with out having to crowd his image. Don was a very active kid. Along with art, he played sports his favorite being football. After graduating high school, Don attended the University of California and did graduate work at the California College of Arts and Crafts. He met his wife Audry while in college and just six months later they were married. Soon she started writing books and asked him to illustrate Moonflute, he enjoyed it so much he made it his career and hobby.
